Emergency plumbing
A plumber dispatched now for water you cannot stop, sewage backing up, or a system that has failed outright.
Forty-one services, one number, twenty-four hours a day. Every job goes to a licensed independent contractor working in your town, not a call centre three states away reading from a script.
Most people arrive here mid-crisis with water on the floor. If that is you, call now and read later. If you are planning work rather than reacting to it, the pages below explain what the job involves, what tends to go wrong, and what it usually costs in Massachusetts.
A plumber dispatched now for water you cannot stop, sewage backing up, or a system that has failed outright.
Pipes that stopped running in a cold snap, thawed, inspected for splits, and repaired before the ice releases.
Controlled thawing of frozen supply lines using heat that will not crack the pipe or start a fire.
Water shut down, the failed section cut out and replaced, and the cause found so it does not happen twice.
Lagging and air-sealing crawl spaces, attics, garages and exterior walls so the same pipe never freezes again.
Finding hidden leaks behind plaster, under slabs and beneath yards without demolishing the house to look.
No heat, no hot water, pressure faults and lockouts on gas, oil and steam systems across Massachusetts.
Replacing a failed or ageing boiler with a correctly sized unit, installed to code and commissioned properly.
Banging pipes, cold radiators and venting faults on the one-pipe and two-pipe systems half this state runs on.
Cold zones, air locks, circulator failures and balancing on hydronic baseboard systems.
Weeping stems, seized handles, failed air vents and steam traps, small jobs, done before they grow.
Boiler-fed storage tanks: no hot water, slow recovery, aquastat and priority-zone faults.
The plumbing side of converting, gas line sizing, flue and chimney, tank removal and permits.
Pilots, thermocouples, elements and thermostats, plus a straight answer when the tank itself has gone.
Correctly sized tanks, code-compliant venting, expansion control and the old unit taken away.
Endless hot water where the gas line and winter inlet temperatures genuinely support it.
Slow and blocked sinks, tubs, toilets and main lines cleared, with the reason it keeps happening identified.
High-pressure water scours grease, scale and roots back to full bore, where cabling only bores a hole.
Recorded, located survey of the line before you dig, buy a house, or pay for another clearance.
Roots cut, jetted and flushed, and the failed joint they entered through located.
Collapsed, cracked and sagging laterals repaired or replaced, with permits and reinstatement agreed up front.
Lining and pipe bursting replace a failed lateral through two pits instead of a trench.
Leaking, broken and frozen service lines located and repaired, from the curb stop to the meter.
New copper or HDPE service lines, trenchless where viable, including lead line replacement.
Failing galvanised and corroded copper replaced with PEX or copper, phased so you can keep living there.
Low and high pressure traced to the actual cause, and high pressure is damaging more than you think.
Failed pumps, battery backups, and discharge lines that freeze solid in February.
Running toilets, weak flushes, rocking bowls and the base leak destroying the subfloor.
Dripping taps, leaking traps, blocked wastes and the seized shut-off nobody has turned in years.
Dripping valves, temperature swings, and valve replacement without destroying the tile.
Jammed and humming units, leaks, smells and replacements fitted properly.
Washers, dishwashers and fridge lines connected with hoses that will not fail at 3am.
New appliance runs, line sizing, pressure testing and permits by licensed gas fitters.
Leaks located and repaired, plus carbon monoxide and combustion faults investigated.
No water, short cycling and pressure tank failures on private well systems.
Softeners, iron removal, acid neutralisers and UV, specified from a test, not a sales visit.
Backups, failing drain fields, and what Title 5 inspection means when you sell.
Annual certified testing for irrigation, boilers and commercial premises, with reports filed.
Rough-in, relocating fixtures, venting and inspection, sequenced with the other trades.
Sink and island relocations, gas ranges, appliance connections and the venting nobody planned.
Restaurants, retail, offices and multi-family, emergency response, compliance and maintenance.
Not sure which one you need?
Describe what you are seeing, the sound, the smell, where the water is, whether the heat is off, and whoever answers works out the trade and the urgency. You do not need to diagnose your own plumbing before you are allowed to call.

There is no form to fill in and no ticket number. You call, you describe the problem in plain language, and a person on the other end decides whether this is a tonight job or a Tuesday job. That triage matters more than anything else on this page: sending a plumber to a slow drip at midnight helps nobody, and telling someone with sewage in their basement to wait until morning is negligent.
If it is urgent, the nearest available licensed contractor is contacted directly and given your address, your phone number and a description of the fault. They call you back to confirm a window. If it is not urgent, you are booked into normal working hours at normal rates, which is almost always cheaper.
Massachusetts is stricter than most states. Plumbing and gas fitting are separately licensed, and the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters does not treat them as interchangeable. A plumber who is not a licensed gas fitter cannot legally touch the gas train on your boiler, and a handyman cannot legally do either.
That is why we do not dispatch generalists. Boiler work goes to gas fitters. Drain and supply work goes to journeymen and masters. Anyone who arrives at your door can produce a licence with a number on it, and you are entitled to look at it before they start.
Between December and March this network does more work than the rest of the year combined, and almost all of it is cold-related: frozen supply lines in unheated crawl spaces, splits that only reveal themselves when the ice thaws, boilers that fail on the first genuinely cold night because nobody serviced them in October, and heating systems in second homes on the Cape that nobody has checked since Labor Day.
The pattern repeats every year and is largely preventable. Insulating an exposed run costs a fraction of what it costs to dry out a ceiling. If you have had a pipe freeze once, it will freeze again in the same spot until someone fixes the reason.
Lines are open now, including tonight and every holiday.
Call (855) 680-3399Water you cannot stop, sewage coming back up a fixture, or no heat in freezing weather are emergencies, they cause damage every hour they continue. Call immediately.
A slow drip, a running toilet, low pressure at one tap or a boiler that is noisy but still working can usually be booked for the next available appointment at standard rates.
Most independent contractors on our network apply an out-of-hours rate. The plumber tells you what that rate is on the phone, before anyone is dispatched.
You are never committed to a price you have not heard first.
It depends on where you are and what the weather is doing. Inside Route 128 an emergency call is usually reached within the hour. On the Cape in August, or in the far western hill towns during a February ice storm, it can be longer.
Whoever answers gives you a realistic window rather than a comfortable one.
Every contractor we dispatch holds a current Massachusetts plumbing or gas fitting licence appropriate to the work and carries liability insurance. Ask to see both at the door, a legitimate tradesperson expects the question.
We dispatch to all 399 Massachusetts cities, towns and villages, from Provincetown to the Vermont line. Browse the areas section to find your town.
Shut off the water at the main if it is a leak, and the fuel or electrical supply at the switch if it is a heating fault. Move anything valuable away from the water and put buckets and towels down.
Do not use a naked flame on a frozen pipe under any circumstances.
The plumber documents what failed, photographs it before repair, and gives you an itemised invoice, which is normally what an insurer wants. We do not file the claim for you.
That varies by contractor. Ask when you call. Most charge for the visit and diagnosis, and many credit it against the repair if you go ahead the same day.
Emergency or not, licensed help is a phone call away, twenty-four hours a day, in all 399 cities and towns.
Answered in person, day or night.
